Pendant Watch Case

Eevi Pty Ltd

An emergency care provider and product developer, Eevi offers an extensive product ecosystem of remote care products that enable immediate and ongoing support to those who might need various forms of immediate contact or assistance.

The Eevi Gateway Pendant Watch Case transforms the brand’s existing Gateway pendant into a convenient, discrete, wrist-mountable call device.

  • Eevi approached Monochrome after identifying market demand for an alternative way to wear the Gateway pendant – an emergency call device originally designed to be worn as a necklace. Driven by considerations including comfort, fashion and safety, certain users and organisations felt a wrist-mounted version would be a useful addition to the range.

Bringing the pendant and case directly into contact with the skin involved new design considerations ranging from material suitability to ergonomic styling. Catering for a population in care scenarios also required consideration of those with reduced mobility, limited vision or reduced comprehension.

  • Monochrome Design worked closely with Eevi to produce a series of quick 3D-printed concepts that tested orientation, form, fitment and comfort. Exploration focused on meeting the needs of aged users, targeting simplicity of assembly and an ergonomic form that would not pinch or pierce delicate skin. Through rapid prototyping and iterative field testing within real communities, it became apparent that a simple, single part, screwless moulding secured by a soft silicon strap would not only meet market criteria, but also be economical to manufacture.

  • Eevi has tested the watch conversion in retirement village communities to very positive reviews and a full-scale launch is imminent.
