Wearable Battery System
Vaulta
The contemporary soldier employs technology that requires portable power solutions. Using advanced composite materials and a unique non-welded assembly process, Vaulta produces modular batteries that are light, durable, safe, have fewer parts, and are easily maintained in the field, making them ideal for defence applications.
The Vaulta Wearable Battery System is a series of modular, hard-shell EVA foam pouches that have been specifically designed to enable and augment the practical deployment of Vaulta’s batteries in the field.

Military-service batteries to date have been bulky, heavy, hard-edged and prone to failure in wet or extreme environments. Vaulta developed technical solutions to these primary issues, but required a range of wearable designs that provided comfort, rapid low-profile access for hot-swapping one to three batteries, environmental ruggedness and cable access for a wide range of peripherals.
-
The first step was understanding that the batteries themselves would have to be shaped around the anatomy and combat harness of the equipped soldier and in some cases this required a curved casing profile. Cabling had to be short and non-restrictive, access intuitive, and fluidity of movement paramount. Monochrome used three-dimensional block modelling juxtaposed on the human form to create designs suitable for attachment and protection from the elements on the thigh, back and inside of the soldier’s carrier vest.

Still a young company, Vaulta has used Monochrome’s designs to attract significant investment. Its wearable military range has yet to go into production.
